Receipts with easily erasable ink contain cancer- and infertility inducing substances, study finds

Ninety per cent of tickets and receipts 鈥 those whose ink fades after some time because they are made of 鈥榯hermal paper鈥 鈥 contain bisphenol A (BPA). BPA is a well鈥慿nown endocrine disruptor that alters hormonal balance in people exposed to it and leads to hormonal diseases such as genitourinary malformations, infertility, obesity and cancer in hormone鈥慸ependent organs (such as breast cancer).

UGR to lead H2020 project exploring causes of anorexia and bulimia 聽

The University of Granada will coordinate a pioneering new H2020 project called CogniTastED, which aims to shed light on how what we think about certain types of food can diminish or enhance their flavour. It will explore how this phenomenon can lead to extreme loss of appetite and weight, as well as to compulsive eating habits, among those suffering from eating disorders.

European Researchers鈥 Night gets under way in Granada

European Researchers鈥 Night 2018 got under way this morning, Friday 28 September, under the slogan 鈥淲omen and men who conduct research for you (鈥淢ujeres y hombres que hacen ciencia para ti鈥). The event will involve over 500 researchers from Granada鈥300 of whom are from the UGR鈥攚ho will conduct fascinating experiments on the streets of the city.
