This academic year, more than 2000 new international students from over 70 countries will complete studies at the University of Granada, thanks to the diverse range of mobility programmes available at our institution. The Vice-Rectorate for Internationalization will run Induction Days for these new students from 10 to 11 September 2018, and again in January and February 2019.

Within the framework of the “traditional” inter-European KA103 programme, the University of Granada has been allocated more mobility places than any other European higher education institution in 2018. The UGR is also the leading university in the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility Programme (KA107).

On Monday 17 July, at a ceremony held at the Hospital Real, the seat of the Rectorate, the University of Granada presented its prestigious Awards for Excellence in International Mobility and "Federico Mayor Zaragoza" Award for University Development Cooperation. The annual ceremony is held with a view to rewarding the outstanding contributions of UGR students to international mobility programmes and development cooperation initiatives.

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network (ITN) proposal ‘Mediating Islam in the Digital Age’ (MIDA) has been awarded a research grant from the Department for Research and Innovation of the European Commission.

The 12th International Staff Training Week was officially inaugurated at the Faculty of Law on Monday 2 July by Artur Schmitt, Director for International Strategy, Projects and Networks at the UGR’s Vice-Rectorate for Internationalization.

The University of Granada will fly the rainbow flag for Pride Month and run a wide range of activities from 28 June to 6 July to support inclusion and diversity. 

The University of Granada will host the working conference titled ‘Migrants and Refugees: Inclusion Policies and Practices’ from the 22 to 23 June 2018. The conference will explore inclusion policies and practices aimed at migrants and refugees with a strong focus on local-level perspectives, bringing together researchers, policymakers, non-governmental representatives, as well as migrants and refugees.

The University of Granada will host the 6th International Conference on Heritage and Sustainable Development from 12 to 15 June 2018, marking the conference series’ 10th anniversary and the first time it has been held outside Portugal.

The International Conference ‘The History and Memory of Hunger during the Franco Regime (1939-1951)’ will be held at the University of Granada from 7 to 8 June 2018, bringing together speakers from six Spanish universities and prestigious international institutions such as the University of London, the University of Nottingham, and the Lyon Institute of Political Studies.

The renowned flamenco singer Estrella Morente and the alternative rock band Lagartija Nick will perform a symphonic poem with the “Manuel de Falla” Choir, an ensemble from the Orchestra of the University of Granada, and the pianist David Montañes, at the PTS University Campus on 6 June.
