The UGR remains top Spanish university in Erasmus+ funding for international mobility

The University of Granada (UGR) has retained its leading position as the Spanish university with the most Erasmus+ funding for international mobility. The news was confirmed in a resolution published by the Spanish Service for the Internationalization of Education (SEPIE), part of the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.

In the 2025 call for proposals, the UGR secured a total of €12.03 million for intra-European mobility (Key Action 1 – KA131), of which €7.97 million came from the Erasmus+ Programme and €4.05 million from the Ministry itself. These funds will be used to finance international mobility periods for students, as well as teaching, research, and administrative and technical staff, at universities in the EU and in Erasmus+ Partner Countries, including Iceland, Norway, Türkiye and Serbia.

Moreover, under the framework of KA171, €1.08 million has been awarded to the University for mobilities with 54 non-EU countries on five continents. This will allow the UGR to expand its network of partner universities to include new institutions in countries such as Uzbekistan, Moldova, Argentina, Thailand, Ukraine and Palestine.

The funding will enable more than 2,000 UGR students to undertake international mobilities, and will also allow the University to welcome more than 2,000 international students to its campuses, thereby reinforcing our institution’s commitment to internationalization, academic quality and cultural exchange.

In addition to traditional mobility programmes for studies and work placements, the UGR is committed to new and more inclusive approaches, such as blended intensive programmes and short-term blended mobility periods. These programmes combine short physical stays abroad with virtual formats, making international experiences more accessible to a wider range of students.

The Erasmus+ Programme aims to modernise European higher education and promote democratic values, international cooperation, and the development of key competences. The results of this call once again place the University of Granada at the forefront of the European university system.
